Great North Run

September 21, 2009
by

Just had to say well done to Friend of ANNT, last month’s guest DJ and all round good guy Alex Chase for completing the Great Run North yesterday in a time which is frankly quite frightening – 1.22.22! That is some achievement. Well done mate.

In my own version of the Great North Run, I visiting North London trustafarian enclave, Crouch End, and did a little bit of digging in the ever-improving Flashback Records. Managed to pick up the Ronnie Laws Blue Note LP ‘Pressure Sensitive’ which features ‘Always There’ and the awesome ‘Tidal Wave’ and the Reuben Wilson Groove Merchant comp ‘Bad Stuff!’ for the ridiculous version of ‘Inner City Blues’ amongst other organ-fuelled monsters. BIG.

In other digging news: you will be glad to discover I recently replaced the lost Tom Jones Decca 7 of Looking Out My Window’. My 7s box is definitely a happier place with it back.
